    摘要: 麥式生產力(Malmquist Index)模型對於技術效率變動及技術變有相當好的解釋效果(Fare, et al.1994)，因此本研究嘗試以Malmquist Index以來檢視美國職業棒球球員是否為爭取新合約，而在簽約前後生產力、技術效率效率與技術表現不一致之情形。本研究計畫以2003年到2007年共五年期間230名準備簽新約或已簽過複數年數合約選手資料，比較簽約前後之表現是否不如簽約前，亦即是否存有Stiroh(2002)及廖振宏(2006)所謂合約到期選手「合約週期」現象。此外本研究球隊每一元勝率與合約到期前球員占整體球員比率與薪資支付水準之關聯性，以分析美國大聯盟球隊薪資結構是否有超出其邊際效益。
    Malmquist index provides a very good indicator of productivity change, technical efficiency change and technology change (Fare, 1994). Therefore, this research attempts to apply Malmquist index to test that whether or not the major league baseball players have Stiroh (2002) and Lao (2006) contract cycle phenomenon for whom performed better before the contract signed than after the contract signed so that players can draw a better multiple years contract. This study also tries to compare Team’s marginal winning rate to the marginal payment of payroll.
