Aiming to enhance a more culture-inclusive and knowledge-integrated institutional environment for Indigenous Special Charter Land-use Plan under the national spatial planning regime, this research takes Cinsbu community (which is the first case of Indigenous Special Charter Lan-use Plan in Taiwan) and communities of three different social ecological systems as examples, to develop the methodology that can dialogue indigenous knowledge and state land management regulations. The theories of ethno-ecological approach and indigenous planning are applied in this research. The methods adopted include ethnographic research, participatory mapping, participatory planning, and ecosystem service analysis. After comparing the differences/similarities of values behind indigenous land knowledge and the state land management regulations, this research expects to make suggestions for further institutional adjustment and reconciliation.
