摘要: This study employed the Process–Person–Context–Time (PPCT) model to analyze how the parent–child relationships of transnational students from Vietnamese families and the interactions of these students with their siblings shapes their developmental momentum in adolescence. Transnational students are defined as individuals who transition from one country’s educational system to another. According to statistics from September 2023, the number of such students in Taiwan had reached approximately 2,000, the majority of whom were children and adolescents from Vietnam. In 2017, the K-12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education, R.O.C., initiated a project to establish a network to track the academic performance of these students. It also planned a budget to offer them Chinese learning resources. Existing studies on these students have focused only on their Chinese teaching, without exploring in depth how these students and their families adapt to and integrate themselves into a new culture or examining their developmental status. In 2018, the author of this study encountered a group of transnational students of Vietnamese ethnicity in southern Taipei City and provided them with language-teaching services. Subsequently, the author came to know their families and started conducting ethnographic research. Drawing on the ethnographic data, this study has analyzed the ethnographic data within the framework of the PPCT model developed by the US psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner and proposes concrete measures that can facilitate the positive development of transnational students.
