Abstract:	一般在談論荀子的「虛壹而靜」時，往往著重於「虛壹靜」對於「認知心」的作用，也就是認為此一工夫是針對認知層次而論。但如果說荀子所說行「虛壹靜」後達至的大清明境界是成聖的重要環節之一，似乎不會僅是「認知」禮義如此基礎的層次。重點在於必須明辨荀子所謂「虛壹靜」後所達至的「知道」，與一般語意脈絡中的「知道」並不相同，而有其特殊意涵。「虛壹靜」後的「知道」，除了在於知禮義的認知層次外，更涉及了「判斷力」的提升；而一旦觸及「判斷力」的層面，就無法僅由「認知心」來達成這樣的功能，而必須透過「出令而無所受令」的「天君」之「心」才能達成。因此，荀子所謂的「知道」，是一「攝知於行」的高層次修養後所達至的境界，不能將「虛壹靜」作為僅是認知禮義的修養工夫。
