    摘要: 本研究計畫分析凡夫女士於1997 年出版的《善女人往生傳》，此書剪輯歷代淨 土往生傳合集而成，是歷史上第二部依照傳統語境編輯的佛教女性合傳）。本計畫 間就宗派觀念與文類特質──淨土宗、往生傳、佛教女性傳記，釐清此書的跨文類 （聖傳與靈驗記）特色，並且透過其剪輯方式，探討佛教典籍的累積與再生產方 式。理論基礎有二：(1) 歷代合集系列的編纂互文性，是宗教經典無法逾越的原則， 所以重複引用，但是剪輯之間仍有宗派意識與修行詮釋的空間；(2)根據經典證據 而來的靈驗記敘述結構，與經典的互證關係並非單向進行。本計畫預期完成三個 主題：（一）分析凡夫編輯翻譯《善女人往生傳》的內容；（二）詳細比對《善女 人往生傳》與所引用的歷代往生傳；（三）比較《善女人往生傳》與當代淨土往生 傳的差異。
    This study of the Biographies of Good Women Reborn in the Pure Land, composed by Lady Fanfu (ordinary men) in 1997, illuminates the intertextuality between canonical scriptures and miracle tales in the Pure Land Buddhism. This text which includes more than 350 stories from previous Pure Land biographical genre, i.e., 往生傳 (biographies of those who were reborn in the Pure Land) is the second collected biographies of Buddhist lay women in Chinese history. I will analyze the content of these biographies and its religious implications in terms of three significant categories: sectarian identity, miracle tales, and female religious biographies. Functioning as hagiographies and miracle tales, the commonplace editing strategy and the standard of selecting in Fanfu’s work might reveal the complicated but long ignored process of reproducing knowledge about Pure Land practice. By adopting canonical definition of “reborn in the West Pure Land” as narrative paradigms, I will argue that miracle tales in turn revise previous sacred evidence by their practical and vernacular descriptions. This research project will be divided into three parts: (1) discussing the content and construction of the Biographies of Good Women Reborn in the Pure Land; (2) investigating and comparing these women’s biographies with previous works; (3) analyzing Fanfu’s work in the content of contemporary development of Taiwanese Pure Land sectarian controversy and competition.
