The use of internet brings many impacts and influences for us. Some traditional communication channels have been essentially changed by the internet. The virtual community is an example. The virtual community provides a cyber space in the internet to the people who have same hobby and interest. They discuss and share their feelings and experiences to the community members in the internet. In the paper, for studying the behaviors and characteristics of the virtual community, we construct a virtual community. Then, based on the constructed virtual community, a series of studies were conducted. Based on the gray relational analysis, we found that the computer hardware and software is the most interesting in the fields of discussion interest, participation, and potential electronic commerce market. In addition, by interviewing some virtual communities, we have that many initiators of the virtual communities do not have goals and strategies for their virtual communities. However, their members visit the web site intensively. Based on our study, the virtual community provides potential opportunities for the electronic commerce.
