Although there is a large body of researches on Taiwan aborigines, little attention has been paid to migration study. Based on the 2000 Taiwan population census and other official statistical data, this research aims to distinguish and characterize repeat migration (including onward and return migrations) and the corresponding effect on spatial distribution. Main findings are as follows: (1) repeat migrations shapes different migration system in four distinct geographic regions; (2) each migration system has its own distinct effect on onward and return migrations; and (3) individual education plays a crucial role in triggering repeat migration of aborigines that in turn affects the stock of human capital in each aboriginal community.
