    Abstract: 語言常藉助語言符號記載日常生活中的經驗及探討生命的體驗,這些反映文化背景及觀點的語言形式即形成所謂的諺語或歇後語。歇後語的語言形式是由前後兩個部分組成的口語,前後的關係是引注關係,表述事物性質、狀態和人物行為心理,風格則多為幽默、風趣、功能也常含教育意味。 從語言層次上而言,歇後語雖非常有特色,仍可涵蓋在廣義的成語或慣用語的範圍內,因為歇後語具有約定俗成性、固定性、引喻性、格言性、非正式性及情感性等六種特性。西方認知語意派的學者指出大多數的成語或慣用語均有認知基礎,可透過認知語意機制產生。如格瑞特斯(1995)即提出同構性及語意透明度兩個面向來分析荷蘭文或英文的成語。
