Urban renewal comprises the integration of land rights and the distribution of development benefits, which can only be accomplished through collective activity To promote the integration of Willingness to Participate in Urban Renewal, this study focuses on the problem of urban renewal resulting from collective action. Based on theories of collective action and trust, this study conducts a resident surveyof the designated urban renewal area adjoining the north of National Chengchi University in Taipei City to identify the relationships among five latent variables, namely cognition of urban renewal, social network, trustworthines and participation willingness. Factor analysis and Structural Equation Model (SEM) are used to examine the above issue. Validation results showed that level of trust positively and directly impacts local resident willingness to participate in the urban renewal project. Furthermore, cognition regarding urban renewal, social networks and trustworthiness can directly increase the level of trust, with trustworthiness being the most important factor and acting as a mediator between cognition regarding urban renewal and trustworthiness.
