(Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale for Children)、自我調整策略量表以及情緒投入狀況量表(Rochester Assessment of Intellectual and Social Engagement)
Perfectionism—A Double-Edged Sword: An Examination of the Influences of Adaptive vs. Maladaptive Perfectionism on Junior-High Students’Achievement-Relevant Processes Abstract Based upon the framework of implicit theories of intelligence proposed by Dweck (1999), the present study attempts to explore the relations among perfectionism, contingent self-worth, and implicit views of intelligence, as well as effects of these variables on eighth graders’academic self-regulation and affective experiences. Although researchers in the fields of clinical or counseling psychology have been working on the relevant topics, educational psychologists rarely examine the influences of perfectionists’personality characteristics on their achievement-related processes. The principal strength of the present study is to employ the framework of implicit theories to disentangle the relations of perfectionism and contingent self-worth to the individual’s view about ability in classroom settings. It is hoped that the unique research design combining theories across fields of educational, personality, and clinical psychology would shed new light on junior-high perfectionists’psychological processes and self-regulation. Four hundred eighth graders from Taipei city will be sampled as participants for the administration of the Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, the Contingencies of Self-Worth Scale, the Implicit Theories of Intelligence Scale for Children, the Self-Regulated Strategies Scale, and the Rochester Assessment of Intellectual and Social Engagement. Pearson correlation analyses, multiple regression analyses, multivariate analyses of variance, and structural equation modeling will be performed to analyze the collected data. Additionally, a few students will be interviewed to complement the quantitative data.
