This research will be a two-year project to study two main issues: (1) in the first year, a decision model for a reverse logistics service provider to determine the robust optimal quantities of customer orders and robust optimal processing quantities of returned products for each processing facility is proposed, and (2) in the second year, a decision model for the collaboration of product manufacturer, reverse logistics service providers and freight service providers under complete logistics to create maximum profit is proposed. Based on the above proposed models, a prototype of the decision support system will also be implemented to help the users to maximize their profits under the consideration of recycling, remanufacturing, purchasing and transportation. This document describes the first year research results of this two-year project. We have already developed a decision model for a reverse logistics service provider under the context of uncertain, multi-period, multi-type returned products and multiple processing facilities environment. The major focus of this model is on determining the robust optimal quantities of customer orders and robust optimal processing quantities of returned products for each processing facility. To deal with the issues of uncertainties, the model applies the scenario-based robust optimization approach.
