    Abstract: 「傳播研究中國化」是近年來我國傳播學術界倡導的一種文化自主運動,在此一研究目標下,整理中國古代的傳播思想,遂成為一樁極艱鉅卻極富意義的學術工作。本文就先秦儒、道、法、縱橫四家非語文記號所作之初步整理分析,發現:先秦諸子所觀察到的非語文記號多係身體語言、聲調、人工品(器物系統)、環境因素、沉默及音樂符碼,而未論及觸覺行為、空間、身體特徵、時間、動物記號、病癥、視覺傳播及嗅覺傳播。儒家重視察言觀色;道家重視「無言」之沉默記號;法家重視政治記號之觀察,縱橫家亦然。儒家的非語文記號思想側重在人際傳播,道家側重在自身傳播,法家與縱橫家則側重在組織傳播。四家思想都觸及了政治傳播的範疇。
