In the present research we propose a self-evaluation regulation system to examine the operations of different sorts of self-control behavior and try to provide a more complete framework to understand how self-evaluation is connected with self-regulation. Besides, nowadays research on embodiment explores the role of bodily perceptions and its effect on cognitive processing. In the present research we also try to explore the possible impact of embodied cognition on the self-evaluation regulation system. The embodied cognition employed is “physical cleansing”. Dong & Lee (2017) suggest that cleansing can be viewed as an embodied procedure of psychological separation. We propose 3 studies to investigate how this cleansing-lead psychological separation works with the self-evaluation regulation system in maintaining positive self-evaluation. Study1 is a 4(individual moral condition: moral vs. immoral vs. competence vs. control ) x 2((how to evaluate a wipe: using it vs. examining it) design. Participants will be led to recall what they have done morally, immorally, or nothing to do with moral. Study 2 is a 3(individual moral condition: moral vs. immoral vs. control ) x 2(affirmation condition: self-affirmation vs. no self-affirmation) design. Study 3 is a 3(moral condition of ingroup member: moral vs. immoral vs. control) x 2 (how to evaluate a wipe: using it vs. examining it).design. Participants will be given a news about their ingroup members who have a moral, immoral , or an interesting act. The main dependent measure is the amount of helping behavior.
