    唯心聖教或稱唯心宗,創立迄今已逾四十年(1982-2022),創教者宗主混元禪師(1944-),崇奉鬼谷子王禪老祖,提升易經、風水學,也融攝儒釋道三教因素,為台灣新興宗教。其教義整合以「古智今用」為原則,而將密集的法會儀式稱為宗教,以達其教化的目的。且以捍衛中華文化道統、維持世界和平標示其全球化的發展綱領,可稱為民間宗教信仰制度化的表現。混元禪師依照其接受的訊息(天啟),創造的經典和法儀系統,與王禪老祖天人合一,成為其人間代言者。他並且在法會和信徒修行中,運用了大量佛教因素,將佛經視為前人所做,宗主所做為唯心真經。本文認為唯心聖教的宗教定位,即由上述文化和法會儀式構成。透過分析唯心聖教的文化和宗教觀,將有助於釐清台灣目前類似的新宗教之發展,而且其關鍵在於混元禪師的中介身分。因此接下來將討論(一)唯心聖教的發展概況和教團組織;(二)唯心聖教的法會和儀式;(三)混元禪師的開山祖師功能。透過混元禪師具備的天啟和中介人(median)身分特色,以及他長年舉辦長程法會的內容、密度和分工,探討唯心聖教如何提升堪輿信仰的宗教層次,並且以文化結合宗教,產生一個有別於通靈形式的新興宗教團體。

    摘要: In 1982, Chan Master Hunyuan 混元 (b. 1944) established the Holy Church of the Mind-Only (Weixin Shengjiao 唯心聖教), which follows the teachings of the Philosopher Ghost Valley (Guiguzi 鬼谷子) in Han Dynasty (202 BC-AD 220). Based on heavenly revelations of the Sage of Ghost Valley, Chan Master Hunyuan integrates elements of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism, while also promotes the Book of Changes (Yijing 易經) and geomancy (Fengshuixue 風水學). His principle of religious syncretism is based on the concept of "applying ancient wisdom to present needs" (guzhi jinyong 古智今用) and regards intensive dharma ceremonies as "religion" (宗教) to transform its believers through civil education (jiaohua 教化). By analyzing the cultural and religious orientation of this group, as well as the intermediary role of its leader, I argue that the aforementioned cultural context and disaster relief ceremonies constitute its religious identity. Moreover, the syncretic doctrine and rituals give rise a new religious community that differs from spirit mediums in folk beliefs.
