| Abstract: | 本研究探討了泰國民眾對墮胎態度的決定因素，特別是在最近的法律改革之後，墮胎法規已經趨於寬鬆。使用網路調查法，本研究收集了410位泰國公民的回應，主要聚焦於20歲及以上的佛教信徒。分析結果顯示，關注媒體中有關性別和墮胎的內容與支持創傷性墮胎和選擇性墮胎呈正相關，顯示媒體可能會影響更多人對墮胎持有較為正面的態度。然而，這樣的媒體接觸並未顯著增強墮胎知識或減少與墮胎相關的污名。有趣的是，佛教信仰和關於墮胎的法律知識對於創傷性墮胎和選擇性墮胎的態度並未顯示出顯著影響。自由的性道德觀念對選擇性墮胎的支持有正面影響，但對創傷性墮胎則無此影響。此外，墮胎污名會降低民眾對創傷性墮胎的支持。然而，分析顯示，媒體中有關性別和墮胎的內容與自由的性道德觀念之間在支持墮胎的態度上具有顯著的交互作用。研究亦發現，佛教信仰或自由性道德觀念並未顯著影響媒體接觸與墮胎知識或污名之間的關係，顯示人們並未使用本身的價值觀來解讀媒體訊息。此外，儘管墮胎法律進步走向更加寬鬆，然而由於墮胎污名及泰國佛教文化的保守性，這些法律的實際執行仍存在相當大的挑戰。本論文有助於深入理解泰國墮胎態度的微妙範疇，並為未來減少污名、增強公眾對墮胎權利支持的教育和政策倡議提供了見解。
This study investigates the determinants of public attitudes towards abortion in Thailand, particularly following recent legal reforms that have liberalized abortion laws. Using a quantitative survey method, the research collected responses from 410 Thai citizens, focusing predominantly on Buddhist respondents aged 20 and above. The analysis reveals that exposure to sexual and abortion-related content in media correlates with increased support for elective and traumatic abortion, indicating that media may influence more favorable abortion attitudes. However, this exposure does not significantly enhance abortion knowledge or reduce stigma associated with abortion. Interestingly, Buddhist religiosity and legal knowledge about abortion shows no significant impact on attitudes towards both traumatic and elective abortion. Liberal sexual morality positively influences support for elective abortions but not for traumatic ones. Furthermore, abortion stigma is found to hinder support for traumatic abortions. The study concludes that neither Buddhist religiosity nor liberal sexual morality significantly affects the relationship between media exposure and abortion knowledge or stigma, emphasizing the complex interplay of individual beliefs and media influences on abortion attitudes. However, the analysis shows a significant interaction between exposure to sexual and abortion content and liberal sexual morality on support for elective abortion. Furthermore, despite legislative progress towards more liberal abortion laws, there remains a considerable gap in their practical implementation, largely due to the prevailing abortion stigma and the conservative nature of Thai Buddhist culture. This thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of the nuanced spectrum of abortion attitudes within Thailand, offering insights that could inform future educational and policy initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and enhancing public support for abortion rights. |
