    Abstract: 本研究計畫的主要目的，在於採取多元的日記視角處理國際冷戰初期涉及台灣的一系列戰爭(包括韓 戰(1950-1953)、兩次台海戰役(1954-1955 年、1958 年)，與越戰(1965-1973))與台灣社會之間的關係及其 影響。 社會科學學者關於「戰爭與社會」的相關理論探討與主題研究，例如環繞在「戰爭與現代民族國家 建構」之間關係的探討，以及環繞在「戰爭與現代性」之間的關係探討，已經累積一定成果。 相對的，本研究計畫中筆者針對戰後台灣聚焦「戰爭與社會」的主題處理，係採取多元跨界的日記研 究取徑，扣緊日記作為歷史學史料的核心特性，也就是日記史料的「立即現在性」與「時空脈絡性」， 藉以檢視置身於國際冷戰前期歷史社會脈絡之下的六位日記記主的主體經驗，特別在日常生活層次 上，討論國際冷戰前期系列戰爭以及隨之而來的政策(例如隨韓戰爆發而來的「台灣地位」問題))與台 灣社會之間的交互影響關係。比這側重在討論這系列戰爭如何在日記中再現，如何自在日常生活層次 上影響並形塑台灣社會民眾的日常想法，以及無意識層面的心態。 除了日記研究取徑外，本研究計畫也採用比較研究的方法，透過四位來自民間社會、具有跨地域、 跨世代、跨職業視野的本省籍日記記主，加上具外省籍族群背景、先活躍於台北的政界與媒體界、後 來遭到國府長期囚禁的自由派日記記主雷震，形成一個跨族群的必較研究視角；並且，筆者進一步納 入戰後移居日本東京的林獻堂日記，增入連結台灣島內外的跨國界的比較視角。
    The primary purpose of the research proposal is to examine the relation between a series of wars under the first half of the Cold War, including the Korean War, the Taiwan Strait Crises, and the Vietnam War, and Taiwan society, through adopting multiple diary perspectives. In contrast to social scientists’ various approaches toward the issues of “War and Society” I adopt a multiple diary approach, incorporating with core concepts of diary such as “immediacy” and “continuously contextualized individual experience”, to cope with issues of how the series wars were represented in six diarists’ entries, by which what sort of implications can be revealed, at the level of daily life, in terms of the history of mentalities in postwar Taiwan.
