Digital gender-based violence is a serious issue for society. More and more incidents are happening and are reported asking for help. This pilot study aims to explore the prevalence of digital gender-based violence and the relationships among individual characteristics. The survey instrument was established based on victims' experiences, suggestions from frontline practitioners, and related studies. Adopting the online survey method, the sample is 3203 persons between 18-74 years old. This study contains 11 categories of digital gender-based violence behaviors. The results showed that the lifetime prevalence of gender-based violence is about 70%. The most popular violence is online harassment (67.5%), followed by dehumanization and assault based on gender (16.1%), and control and inhibition (6.2%). The lifetime prevalence of image-based sexual violence, which has recently gotten serious attention in our society is 4.6% and is ranked as fourth. Young people have a higher prevalence than middle-aged and older people. Sexuality is one of the most important factors, and sexual minority has a higher risk than heterosexuals. Among heterosexuals, females are the major victims of sexual violence, and males experience digital gender-based violence largely due to their support of gender equality or showing pro-attitude towards LGBTQ. According to the findings, this study suggests examining the definition, scope, and categories of digital gender-based violence, and indicates the future research direction.
