    Title: 台灣職前華語教師於各式社會情境下的翹舌音發音表現及策略

    Abstract: 本研究旨在探討台灣職前華語教師於各式情境之下的翹舌音表現,尤以翹 舌清音及其對立音zh- (tʂ-)、ch- (tʂh-)、sh- (ʂ-) 以及 z- (ts-)、c- (tsh-)、s- (s-)為觀察目標。台灣華語的翹舌音相對於中國大陸普通話而言,已逐漸發展出在地化的特色,導致台灣語言政策以及本土語言的發展有其特殊的脫鉤現象。本文欲觀察台灣職前華語教師在不同的社會情境下(朗讀情境、教學情境、日常情境)是否存在語音表現不一致的狀況,以及是否會依據不同的社會語言環境和說話對象對自己的發音做出調整。本研究從社會語言學的角度出發,觀察11位在台灣就讀華語文教學碩士學位的職前華語教師,其年齡層在24歲至30歲之間,為台灣華語第二代的傳承對象,且方言背景僅為閩南語。研究實驗依上述的三個情境分為三部分,蒐集到的語音材料由研究者及一名專家進行聽辨,若遇聽辨結果不一致之處將利用聲學軟體Pratt輔助作為辨別依據。除了進行語音分析之外,本研究利用半結構式的訪談,希望充分了解台灣華語職前教師對於標準國語翹舌音、台灣在地化發音的語音態度,及其變異模式及策略。研究結果表明,台灣職前華語教師在面對各式情境、說話對象時,翹舌音的翹舌程度確實出現變化,於朗讀情境中,翹舌音的準確度高且和其對立音有清楚的對立;於教學情境中,較容易把舌尖前音發為翹舌音;於日常情境中,翹舌音準確度明顯下降。因此華語教師在各式情境下的發音確實存在變異,能根據不同情境調整發音表現,以確保教學品質和日常溝通的自然性。本文說明了於教學情境下維持標準發音的正當性與必要性,也探討職前華語教師須在各式情境下皆保持標準發音的不必要性。台灣職前華語教師在掌握標準語音和台灣在地化華語之間維持的平衡關係,發展出來的變異策略,是對於社會變遷的一種回應。
    This study aims to explore the performance of retroflex sounds by pre-service Mandarin Chinese teachers in Taiwan under different contexts, focusing on the retroflex sounds and their non-retroflex sounds zh- (tʂ-), ch- (tʂh-), sh-(ʂ-) and z- (ts-), c- (tsh-), s- (s-). Taiwanese Mandarin has gradually developed localized characteristics compared to Mainland Chinese Mandarin, resulting in a distinct decoupling from Taiwan’s language policy and the development of local languages. This study intends to investigate whether pre-service Mandarin teachers in Taiwan exhibit inconsistent phonetic performance across different social contexts (reading, teaching, and daily conversation) and whether they adjust their pronunciation based on the social linguistic environment and interlocutors. This study adopts a sociolinguistic approach to observe 11 pre-service Mandarin teachers studying for a master's degree in Mandarin teaching in Taiwan. Their ages range from 24 to 30, and they represent the second generation of Taiwanese Mandarin speakers with a background limited to using the Minnan dialect. The study experiment is divided into three parts according to the three contexts mentioned above. The collected phonetic data will be analyzed by the researcher and an expert listener, and any discrepancies in the analysis will be resolved using acoustic analysis software Praat. In addition to phonetic analysis, this study utilizes semi-structured interviews to fully understand the phonetic attitudes of pre-service Mandarin teachers in Taiwan towards standard Mandarin retroflex sounds, the localized Taiwanese Mandarin pronunciation, and their strategies and modes of variation.

      The results of the study indicate that Taiwan Pre-service Mandarin teachers show changes in the degree of retroflex sounds depending on the context and interlocutor. In reading contexts, the accuracy of retroflex sounds is high, and there is a clear contrast with their non-retroflex counterparts. In teaching contexts, it is easier to pronounce non-retroflex sounds to retroflex sounds. In daily conversation contexts, the accuracy of retroflex sounds significantly declines. Therefore, Mandarin teachers do indeed exhibit pronunciation variations in different contexts and can adjust their phonetic performance according to different situations to ensure both teaching quality and the naturalness of everyday communication. This paper discusses the legitimacy and necessity of maintaining standard pronunciation in teaching contexts and explores the non-necessity for pre-service Mandarin teachers to maintain standard pronunciation across all contexts. The balance between mastering standard pronunciation and localized Taiwanese Mandarin and the resulting variation strategies reflect a response to social changes.
