    Abstract: 本計畫旨在探索台灣民眾如何認知與期待台灣在美國及中國的三邊關係中的角色。台-美-中三邊的互動研究通常被視為國際關係研究的一環，或是將其視為區域研究的一部分，不同於這些研究取向，本計畫從民眾的觀點出發，檢驗民眾對台灣、美國與中國戰略三角關係的看法，以及此一關係如何影響台灣對大陸的抗衡或是扈從。透過電話訪問調查與焦點團體訪談的採用，本計畫除了可以為相關的國際關係理論提供一個實證基礎之外，同時也檢視台灣民意對兩岸互動關係的看法，以及對我國大陸政策與多數民意趨勢之間的一致性程度。
    This project aims at exploring Taiwanese citizens’ perception and expectation the role played by Taiwan in the Taiwan-US-China triangle relation. The study of Taiwan-US-China triangle relation has been a part of international relations, or a party of regional study. Unlike this traditional research orientation, this project begins with an examination of citizens’ views on the Taiwan-US-China triangle relation, and how this triangle relation affects Taiwan’s balancing against or bandwagoning with China. By way of telephone interview and focus group interview, this project would provide an empirical foundation for the aforementioned triangle relation, would illustrate citizens’ attitude toward cross-Strait relations, and would examine the congruence between public opinion and China policy.
