With the advent of smart mobile devices, emerging platform business models have proliferated. The network effect and related theories have become popular topics of research in both academic and practical fields.
However, upon reviewing previous literature, it is evident that most discussions have focused on the platform perspective, with little emphasis on the participating businesses themselves and their operational strategies. Furthermore, empirical research supporting these discussions is lacking. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the strategic considerations of enterprises entering platforms through the lens of multi-homing strategies. By integrating the theory of ambidexterity, it investigates the mediating effects of exploration and exploitation that may arise during business decision-making. Through a dialogue between these two theories, the study aims to further explore their interrelationships and provide valuable insights for future enterprise operations and strategic decision-making.
