The rapid development of financial technology (Fintech) has led to a surge in its popularity in both the Information Systems (IS) and Finance research fields. In this thesis, we collected research papers from reputable IS and Finance journals and conducted an in-depth literature review to identify the Fintech research trends over the past few years. We applied and adjusted a research framework for literature analysis, categorizing and comparing the differences between the IS and Finance fields from various perspectives. Our findings reveal that the IS field delves deeper into the technical intricacies and commercial applications of Fintech, whereas the Finance field primarily focuses on studying the market impact and benefits of Fintech applications.
Additionally, we provide recommendations for future researchers on potential directions for further study.
