The present study analyzes the importance of the impact of principals` leadership styles on school organizational health and used meta-analysis as a methodology to analyze, based on a systematic review method and field research studies consultation. To achieve the purposes, the research data were collected from 26 related doctoral or master theses and journals, and through these references, this study discusses the relation between principals` leadership styles and school organizational health, and at the same time, it provides a wide-ranging review.
The main findings of this research are: (1) there is a highly positive relationship between principals` leadership styles and school organizational health. (2) From the point of view of principals` leadership styles variables, transformational leadership, authentic leadership, distributed leadership, positive leadership, moral leadership and instructional leadership have a highly positive effect on school organizational health. (3) And distributed leadership has the highest positive relationship on school organizational health.
Furthermore, tests of homogeneity indicate that significant variations in effect size are the result of the research area, domestic sampling location and education stage moderating effects. The research area is the variable that moderates the effect size of principals` leadership styles and school organizational health and between transformational leadership, and it emerges that a “domestic research” brings to a school organizational health stronger than in presence of other approaches; by the way, all of them recorded a positive and significant effect. On the other hand, domestic sampling location factor influences principals` leadership styles and school organizational health effectiveness, and the effect from high to low is: "southern region of Taiwan", "central region of Taiwan", "northern region of Taiwan", "whole region of Taiwan", all of them have a positive correlation and a highly effect. In addition, the education stage has also a sensible influence on the correlation between the effect size of principle’s leadership and school organizational health, and also between the transformational leadership, it appears that “middle school” is stronger than other education stage; by the way, all of education stages recorded a positive and significant effect.
Finally, according to the finding and conclusion, this study proposes suggestions for educational practice application and future research.
