摘要:	查證被視為新聞工作的根本。本文闡述新聞機構情境包括新聞慣例、文類、截稿時間、新聞競爭與媒體特質等如何影響記者查證，以及新聞查證所求之真為能滿足記者寫作所需之「暫時可用的無誤真相」。進而，本文指出記者查證行動的特殊性，包含新聞組織支持的查證行動、透過論述策略彌補證據之不足、為保護消息來源犧牲文字的表面真實，以及新聞報導本身也可作為一種查證行動 Verification is at the cornerstone of good journalism. This article explores how news verification is influenced by the institutional context including news conventions, genre, deadline, news competition and media type. Besides, thanks to the speed-up of time constraints and the limited space, journalists only need to collect the evidences that are enough for them to produce a news article, and therefore, this article suggests what journalists search for is not an absolute truth, but a practical form of truth. Further, this article pinpoints the characteristics of new verification including the news organization support, using discourse strategies to obscure weak evidences, misrepresenting for protecting sources, and using news reports as news verification.
