This study takes senior students of a Taiwan university majoring in the Japanese language (meaning advanced Japanese language students) as the target group and "Izu No Odoriko" by Yasunari Kawabata as the study subject, in which the literary text is used as language teaching material. The experimental process and the actual classroom situation are fully presented in the study, particularity emphasizing through the instructional method a firm grasp on the literary theme and deep level of analysis. Class discussions are centered on the "dramatic moments" in the "text" to prompt questions in learners. Through studying the "keywords" in the text, students are encouraged to explore the sensitivity and duality of problems presented in the book. Such also increases their acceptance of a foreign culture and produces more effective learning. The ultimate goal is to promote a deeper understanding in the students of a literary work originating from a foreign culture.
