A study of Jadeair.com.tw, a virtual aviation club, showed that activities in the form of message exchange demonstrated the principles of a virtual community. The success of Jade Air resulted from engaging in virtual flying based on real-life aviation knowledge, blurring the boundaries of real-life and virtual worlds. The results also suggest that the goal of a virtual community must be specific, and the participants must be fully committed. The communication environment should encourage discussions with logic and reason, thus reducing the possibility of flaming.
