National Science Council (NSC) is one of the major funding sources for the communication researchers in Taiwan. This article tends to present a map of how the NSC-granted researchers are like during 1966-2000. For this purpose, the author accessed the NSC database to retrieve, verify and analyze the records of the granted proposals in the period. The result showed that the number of NSC-funded projects increased sharply during 1996-2000. More communication researchers than ever used this source of funding. In addition, the topics of the proposals turned diversified in the period. However, the author found that “research divide” existed in the community. The participants of the granted projects came from a small portion of the members in the research community. The portion of administration/business driven projects were also found increased. Finally, it was argued that the lack of team-working among the project participants make it difficult now an then to develop the long-term, large-scale researches.
