    Abstract: 在資訊時代當中，新的傳播科技正快速的發展，同時也改變著我們的社會，而除了從科技的角度來研究這些傳播科技，在社會經濟以及文化層面的研究也不可或缺。然而，在過去幾年的許多實證研究當中，卻發現研究結果與西方社會背景背道而馳，所以本文透過一些觀察與分析，試圖檢視傳播科技的使用，在華人與美國的社會經濟與文化中有什麼不同的差異。本文選擇因傳播科技發展所衍生出的六種不同的傳播方式來作為分析對象，分別是：（一）面對面傳播（Face to Face Communication）；（二）視訊會議（Video Teleconferencing）；（三）語音會議（Audio Teleconferencing）；（四）電傳會議（Computer Teleconferencing）；（五）電話與衛星（Telephone and Satellite）；（六）平面媒體與電腦應用程式（Print Medium and Computer Applications）。
