    Abstract: 日本政黨政治始於明治中期,於第二次大戰後成熟發展。然而,戰後由於國際冷戰體制的形成,使的日本政黨左右壁壘分明,在堅持與美國並列自由陣營的前提下,日本國內形成自民黨一黨獨大的「五十五年體制」。此種情勢隨者冷戰結束而發生變化,不但長期執政的自民黨發生大分裂,在野各黨亦紛紛改弦另張,政界局勢重新排列組合,以往意識形態的對立,一轉成為人事、地盤等政治資源性的考量。此類因選舉爛熟加上制度改革而演變成的特殊政黨政治,可說是東方民主政治文化的先例,值得關切日本政治的研究者深加注意。
