    Title: 我國對老百姓身份的傳統評價

    Abstract: 本文旨在說明中國政治思想對平民政治地位的界定,這可分為主張「性善論」的儒家與主張「性惡論」的法家來探討。以儒家而言,他們是以聖人為理想人格,並且認為人性都孕育著成聖的本能,因此,每個人只要能培養自己的精神素養、排除理性的糟粕,都可以完成理想人格而成為聖人。例如孟子的「性善論」主張萬物皆備於我,強調人性的尊嚴,因而提高了老百姓的政治地位。以法家而言,荀子認為人性本惡,因此反對人性自然發展,並主張要嚴加管束。此外,法家的立法雖有寬厚與嚴酷的不同,其目的都是為了抑制民權與鞏固君權,直到宋代的王安石變法,才讓「為君主服務」的法家發揮了儒家「為民服務」的精神。
