Abstract:	本文旨在確立「雜誌」與「新聞雜誌」在整體大眾傳播事業中的地位。「雜誌」有以下三種特性：(1)雜誌具有固定的出版間隔，即所謂定期性或經常性；(2)內容具有多樣性；(3)它是經過裝訂而成的小冊子，並且具有「包裝」。另方面，以報導新聞為主要職責的雜誌稱為「新聞雜誌」。而基於以下理由，本文認為「新聞雜誌」往後將有理想發展：在今後一、二十年，(1)讀者的知識水準將大幅提高；(2)讀者的生活水準會提高，休閒時間也會增長；(3)讀者對媒體的責任感將大為提高。因此，本文認為即使一般性雜誌正受到考驗，「新聞雜誌」卻會是例外。
