Why has Russia’s authoritarian trajectory been resilient in the absence of overt repression? Explaining the stability and durability of Russia’s competitive authoritarianism under Putin, this research applies a topdown approach to political transitions in the context of four relation dimensions: executive-legislative relations, center-periphery relations, state-society relations, and domestic-external relations. The study also focuses on the Kremlin’s ability to co-op and mobilize social forces
    through All-Russia People’s Front.
