Although the Korean studies in Taiwan lasted for 60 years, human resource development in Korean affairs has paid little attention due to the Anglophile education policy by the Taiwanese education authorities. In this survey I attempt to divide human resources in Korean affairs in two different groups: First, ""a group of people who has good language skill lacking in knowledge of Korean affairs"", and ""the other group who has strong understanding in Korean studies lacking in Korean language proficiency"". To reform this problem in education, it is important to set up new integrated-educational objectives to foster student"s ability in language proficiency and knowledge in Korea. According to my survey, the subjects and coursed opened in Korean department at Taiwanese universities are mainly about Korean Culture, Society, History, and Geography, meanwhile Korean Politics and Economics are rarely taught. This tendency is strongly related the teacher and professor"s specialty and major. Since the establishment of Korean department at Cheng-Chi University and Mun-wha University, the supreme goal of the departments was language acquisition and training language teacher. Reflecting the institutional conditions, most of the professors in Taiwan is heavily weighted in Linguistics and Literature studies only. I believe that it hindered diversity and development of Korean studies and education in Taiwan. To make betterment I would like to suggest several measures as following: 1. Improving quality of teacher and curriculums 2. Building up interdisciplinary program among various majors 3. Establishing a long-term educational program by educational authorities 4. Reinforcing translation and interpretation programs 5. Developing a special supplemental language program 6. Government and industry-university"s cooperative research 7. Developing a special training program for the international-workings between Korea and Taiwan, and certification for them.
