Wearable technology becomes a trend. It is beneficial to develop creative applications from collecting data closer to user. However, the data is too fragmented to use directly. It needs a software platform to filter and integrate them so as to extract the specific meaningful information. IoT (Internet of Things) is one of such well-known platforms. Currently, IoT platforms focus on device applications more than interactive applications and lacks the interaction with human sensation. Therefore, this thesis aims to design a real-time interactive wearable platform which is first applied to wireless interactive art performance.
We use the wearable devices to real-time capture body skeleton, develop software architecture and follow the spirits of IoT to strengthen interaction of data flow. In this way, we can exchange data between users from multi-regions with low latency to facilitate real-time interactive art performance. We also design an immersive application with VR (virtual reality), which is exhibited in public, called "Electronic Skin". The participators experience our developed wearable devices and platform, and are satisfied with the innovative art work and technology integration.
In the future, this platform can be combined with social networks, and may make wearable technology more popular in influencing people life style.
