Computerized concept mapping is a graphic learning tool that includes the concept characterization of multimedia, which is in line with the designers’ visual thinking pattern. On the other hand, the creative thinking ability is a design skill considered of the greatest importance by designers. In this study, with the 40 university students under the design departments as the subjects and using the content analysis method and statistical analysis, the computerized concept mapping adopted as the design and creative thinking tool was explored in order to determine whether or not it contributes to the students’ presentation of digital video works, as well as its appropriateness as a creative thinking tool and design assessment method. The results from research show that: (1) students’ scores on computer-based concept mapping are in direct ratio with their scores on video production; (2) computer-based concept mapping is an effective tool for creative invention; and (3) computer-based concept mapping can be applied in the design assessment.
