The present study is intended to validate the Chinese work end-value scale, which was constructed based on Yang’s four-part theory, and to explore effects of work endvalues on young people’s choices between career and family. Chinese work end-values are classified on two axes, individualistic vs. social oriented axis and intrinsic vs.extrinsic reward. Results revealed that career choice of individuals in career and family conflict situations could be predicted from their work end-values. Results also indicated that workers with different gender, cohort and area backgrounds had different preferences on work end-values.
