Along with the conception of the regional integration thrives around the world, every country starts to negotiate about signing the free trade agreements. As important roles of conducting foreign direct investment, both of Republic of China and People Republic of China won’t be absent in this big game for sure. The enterprises of Mainland China were permitted to do FDI in Taiwan since 2009, and we had Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement next year. It meant that regional integration is an indefensible trend on Earth.
This thesis examines the determinants of Mainland China enterprises conducting FDI in Taiwan, not only including whether to increase the amount of the investment, but also promote the degree of the FDI. Through the empirical result, the mode of executing Taiwanese enterprises, moving out with the cooperating firm, and signing the free trade agreements of goods and service, are the common determinants of increasing investment in Taiwan for Mainland China enterprises. Moreover, exploring Taiwan market and building the cooperating framework cross the Taiwan Strait are the additional significant factors of willing to increase FDI for China enterprises. We found there was a vigorous effect of free trade agreement over the intention of raising FDI in our country, so we used FTA factor to play the moderating role between independent variables and the willing to enlarge FDI. In eventually, we did confirm that FTA has moderator effect on promoting FDI in Taiwan for China enterprises.
