    Abstract: 自從七十年代末期實行"改革開放"政策以來,中國社會、政治、經濟等 各個方面發生了前所未有的劇烈變化。社會日益開放、經濟更加活躍,那麼,教 育作為社會發展的重要基礎,是怎麼在市場經濟的浪潮中適應和發展的呢?以經 濟效益為目標的市場經濟又是如何影響教育的呢?教育和科技的發展乃是興國之 本,中國的教育如何適應蓬勃發展的市場經濟,並為社會和經濟的發展起積極的 促進作用便是一個刻不容緩,值得深入研究的課題。當中國政府正竭力為解決人 民的溫飽問題而煞費苦心,經濟的發展便占據了頭等重要的地位,成為各界關注 的焦點。教育則不幸地成了一個 "被遺忘的角落"。許多有識之士驚呼中國正面 臨著災難性的教育危機,但苦於缺乏解決問題的途徑和方法,哀嘆"心有餘而力 不足"。中國教育的危機在哪裡?徵結何在?本文將根據筆者近幾年來對目前中國 教育的實地考察和研究,從以下幾個方而粗略地分析和討論中國教育的發展現狀 和問題;1.沉重的包袱;中國教育發展的背景;2.蹉跎歲月:中國教育的發展進程;3. 狹縫中求生存:4.曙光在前頭:中國教育的發展前景。
    Since the introduction of the reform and opening policy in the late1970s. Mainland China has experienced tremendous social andeconomicalchanges . The "sleepy dragon" is finally wakening up. As theChinese economy now enjoys unprecedented raipd progress, how is theeducational system abjusting to a "socialist market economine issues andprospects concerning education in today`s transitional China. Specifically,this paper discusses recent educational development in China and itshistorical, social, political, economical, and cultural contexts and implications .
