The paper investigates the standby system of redundancy method. Assuming that the operating horizon of the standby system consists of several periods and there are Some spares in each period. The purpose of this research is to realize the required number of spares in order to maximize -the system reliability under some constraints. First, this paper introduces Markov model and concepts of reliability system, such as states, hazard rate and transition probability. Then the authors explain both cold and hot standby systems. Most of the early researches considered the fixed hazard rate which does not match the real situation. Therefore, this paper take the hazard rate as the function of time to set up the analytic model . After the model is developed, the authors solve the problem by IREPP algorithm and by using the Weibull distribution. Finally, this study aims to compare the differences between cold and hot standby systems.
