Despite the fact that sound recordings play a vital role in the preservation of cultural heritage, they are very often neglected. Sound recordings are much more complex and expensive to handle, preserve and provide access in comparison to paper archives affect they have not received the same attention as paper based records. Sound archives are a holding of music and spoken which remind the common memory becoming an integral component of contemporary life and culture. Sound archives are also a knowledge generator, because the archives may become the foundation for constructing the public history.
