Title:	許慎生平行迹考

Abstract:	許慎為東漢大儒，不僅「五經無雙」，為世所重；其所作說文解字，炤耀千秋，實為中國文字學之宗主。後漢書儒林傳載其生平云：「許慎，字叔重，汝南召陵人也。性淳篤，少博學經籍．馬融嘗推敬之。時人為之語曰：『五經無雙許叔重。』為郡功曹，舉孝廉，再遷，除洨長，卒於家。初慎以五經傳說，臧否不同，於是撰為五經異義。又作說文解字十四篇，皆傳於世。」僅寥寥八十五字，簡略過甚。後之讀許君書者，知人論世，必欲詳知許君之生平，而此傳實不足以饜人之意。清儒有見及此，考許君之生平行迹者踵相及，其最著者有嚴可均之許君事蹟考、林頤山之許慎傳補遺、錢大昕之許慎傳漏略、蔡壽昌之許叔重先為祭酒後為洨長卒於桓帝以後非卒於安帝之世考、陶方琦之許君年表考及諸可寶之許君疑年錄（後引諸氏此等文，並稱某某曰）。顧諸家所考，頗有異同；學者讀之，易滋迷惑。因更綜覈眾說，以論定之，如次：
