    Title: The Association of Intelligence, Visual-Motor Functioning, and Personality Characteristics With Adaptive Behavior in Individuals With Williams Syndrome

    Abstract: (英文)Williams syndrome (WS) is associated with deficits in adaptive behavior and an uneven adaptive profile. This study investigated the association of intelligence, visual-motor functioning, and personality characteristics with the adaptive behavior in individuals with WS. One hundred individuals with WS and 25 individuals with developmental disabilities of other etiologies were included in this study. This study found that IQ and visual-motor functioning significantly predicted adaptive behavior in individuals of WS. Visual-motor functioning especially predicted the most amount of unique variance in overall adaptive behavior and contributed to the variance above and beyond that of IQ. Present study highlights the need for interventions that address visual-motor and motor functioning in individuals with WS.
    (西文)El Síndrome de Williams (SW) está asociado a déficits en la conducta adaptativa y un perfil adaptativo desigual. Este estudio investigó la asociación de la inteligencia, el funcionamiento visomotor y características de la personalidad con la conducta adaptativa en personas con SW. Un centenar de personas con SW y 25 individuos con discapacidades del desarrollo de otras etiologías fueron incluidos en este estudio. Este estudio encontró que el coeficiente intelectual y el funcionamiento visomotor predijeron significativamente la conducta adaptativa en personas con SW. El funcionamiento visomotor predijo especialmente la mayor cantidad de varianza única en la conducta adaptativa global y contribuyó a la variación por encima y más allá del CI. El presente estudio refleja la necesidad de intervenciones que aborden el funcionamiento visomotor y motor en individuos con SW.(法文)Le syndrome de Williams (SW) est associé à des déficits dans les comportements adaptatifs ainsi qu`à un profil hétérogène d`adaptation. Cette étude a examiné le lien entre l`intelligence, le fonctionnement visuomoteur, les traits de personnalità, et les comportements adaptatifs chez des personnes ayant le SW. L`échantillon était constitué de 100 personnes présentant le SW et de 25 personnes ayant un trouble du développement dont l`étiologie n`était pas en lien avec ce syndrome. L`étude a révélé que le QI et le fonctionnement visuomoteur prédisaient les comportements adaptatifs chez les personnes ayant le SW. Le fonctionnement visuomoteur prédisait plus spécifiquement la plus grande quantité de variance unique dans les comportements adaptatifs dans leur ensemble, et contribuait à la variance au-delà de celle qui est attribuable au QI. La présente étude met en lumiè re la nécessité de développer des interventions visant le fonctionnement moteur et le fonctionnement visuomoteur chez les personnes ayant le SW.
