Abstract: This study attempts to develop a learning system that incorporates cognitive styles and online games. Based on the learning strategies appropriate for the two types of cognitive styles (field-independent and field-dependent type) an online-game is structured to enable learners of different cognitive styles to learn through suitable learning strategies and obtain knowledge. Students were divided into Experimental group and Control group. Students in experimental group used the learning system with the field independent style and field dependent style designed by this study. Students in control group adopted a conventional web learning system. The pre-test and post-test were conducted to understand the effects of the system. Students in experimental group were also conducted a questionnaire for further understanding of the satisfaction of system. The main findings of this study point out that experimental group have the best performances in these groups, and the performances significantly differ from control group. Most students gathered in this study said they liked using the system to learn. © 2007 IEEE.
