    摘要: 本論文主要核心命題(proposition)在於強調新古典現實主義途徑最為貼切詮釋印度的外交政策,透過理論屬性抽取出印度國家內部特性,建立變數之間的邏輯關係,以全面細緻的理解印度外交政策,重點在於論證強權的權力分配仍是制約印度外交政策的首要因素,但為了更周全解釋其政策的產出,必須連結國家特質做為關鍵的干擾變數補強。主要研究目的在於,探索觸動印度追求「大國地位」與「戰略自主」之根源;其次,論述印度「大國地位」的實踐與政策作為;再次,說明印度深化亞太政策的具體發展,以及印度如何評估國際體系的威脅與機會。本論文核心論述主要為:(一)印度「大國地位」的想望與抱負根源於後殖民國家身份認同的型塑(二)「大國地位」與「戰略自主」的展現I:世界秩序規則制訂者(三)「大國地位」與「戰略自主」的展現II:拓展與大國的外交關係(四)國家身份認同之作用:擺盪在「戰略機會」與「戰略考量」之間
    論文主軸在於檢視國家身份認同因素對印度外交政策長期與深層的影響,從新古典現實主義結合體系結構與單元層次的分析架構下,抽取出做為中介變數的身份認同因素是如何干擾印度對於體系壓力的回應,同時提供觀察印度政策選擇的另一種理論途徑。目的在於指出,欲理解印度外交政策具有的特質,必須輔以「國家身份認同」的干擾變數,而伴隨後殖民國家身份認同而來的戰略自主,則有助於解釋印度對於「大國地位」的追求與想望;同時呈現出對美國總是存有不信任感,雙方戰略夥伴關係難以真正落實;換言之,印度如何評估考量體系所提供的戰略機會,國家身份認同可以提供吾人觀察重要線索。
