This study employed the DEA method to measure the technical efficiency of the general hospitals using a survey of medical institutions complied by the Department of Health. A nonparametric test has shown that public hospitals are significantly less efficient than private hospitals. A Tobit analysis with hospital characteristics, such as hospital ownership, ownership of CT, and demand situation in area, etc., also exhibits then same results.
