    Abstract: 研究本為繼續第一年之研究:1990年台灣人口普查中教育資料之分析與詮釋。本研究除繼續分析單親家庭中途輟學的影響外，主要在分析都會區與非都會區在社經地位的差異。因為第二年整合計畫的重點在探討都會地區之脈動與變遷。本研究擬分析台灣各縣市之所得稅賦，平均教育程度及平均職業地位。在1990 年之普查資料中有各縣市之各級 教育程度 之人數，將各級教育程度轉為教育年數，則可求出各縣市的平均教育程年數。在人口普查的職業分類恰與 Treiman之國際職業聲望量表相同，故Treiman (1977)的職業聲 望 分數可作為各職業的加權值，如此可求出各縣市的平均職業聲 望 。各縣市 的社經地位求出之後，便可比較都會地區與非 都會地區 在社經地位 的差異。其次是探討都會地區 之教育問題。在美國，都市中心的持續衰退，經濟富裕的中產階級往郊區遷移，例如在紐約，白人往郊區，市中心由黑人居住，中學輟學率也隨著增加，教育品質下降。台灣的都會地區是否也有類似中途輟學率嚴重的情況，這是本研究所要探討的問題。本研究將以向人口普查處所購置之光碟資料及行政院戶口及住宅普查報告，第一卷，台閩地區，上冊、中冊、及下冊繼續分析。統計分析方法將使cluster analysis等方法。
