    Abstract: 當代大型博覽會多半以科技、經濟或環境為主題,展示人類社會的進步,在某種程度上更被視為是「帝國主義的祭典」。本文將以博覽會政治學為題,探索博覽會作為政策工具所呈現出的特殊權力圖象,透過中國經略周邊區域的戰略安排為例,並以中國─東協博覽會作為經驗參照,深入解釋中國如何以博覽會的舉辦來發展、運作對周邊關係的實際操作。本文主要分為五個部分:第一部分為前言,主要針對中國崛起的文獻進行扼要分類;第二部分探討博覽會政治學作為強權興起政策工具的意義;第三部分以中國的經驗參照,作為博覽會政治學的再理論化依據;第四部分透過中國─東協博覽會的個案討論此一大型會展的起源、發展與戰略布局;第五部分則為結論。
    Contemporary international expositions are of specific themes, for example, in accordance with scientific, economic and environmental subjects. They are regarded as the exhibition of human progress, and, to some extent, the representation of imperialism as well. By explaining the development of China-ASEAN Expo, this paper is aimed at delineating the tactic how China develops its relations with Southeast Asian neighbors. The first part briefly introduces the literature regarding the rise of China. Secondly, it touches upon the internal rationale of international exposition as the way to promote the rise of great power. The third part makes sense the theorization of the exposition politics with reference to China’s case. Then, it corroborates the case study of China-ASEAN Expo to depict its origin, development and strategic arrangement in the context of China- ASEAN relations. The fifth part concludes the research findings.
