The main purpose of this paper is to study how educational achievement influences social mobility in Taiwan today from the viewpoint of Conflict Theory. Two hypotheses to be tested in this paper are:first, the income return from educational achievement varies with social class; second, educational achievement has a positive effect on people’s social class attainment process. The 95 male cases as study sample are adopted from a large scale official survey. The results Ziemonstrate support for the hypotheses, that is, in Taiwan today educational achievement plays an important & positive role in men’s social class attainment process.
