摘要: Assuming that Chinese diasporic marriage is a happiness-pursuing cooperation based on trust but involving significant in-laws, we explore this basic assumption into a model of trust, which contains 10 working hypotheses. We then subject the hypotheses to test by invoking 33 narratives of the diasporic families collecting from both Malay-Chinese and Taiwanese women. The results suggest that the diasporic `post-modern` marriage has traditional values such as romance and Chinese view of patrilocality as its foundation, and that, while most women reciprocate with their husbands in a `nice` tic-for-tact way, they only interact with their non-native in-laws either in a `generous` or in a `win-stay, lose-shift` way.
