    摘要: 電子化與自動化是當今全球城市與產業發展的趨勢,隱藏於e化生活背後的設備即為工業電腦。工業電腦具有少量多樣、高穩定性、適應險惡環境,以及產品生命週期長等產品特性,技術門檻雖高,但高毛利率也吸引眾多廠商進入工業電腦市場。為了維持競爭優勢,工業電腦廠商必須不斷發展多角化事業,以滿足市場與客戶的需求,多角化策略遂成為許多工業電腦廠商的關鍵成功要素之一。

    本研究的研究對象為全球工業電腦領導廠商研華公司,研華至今有二十七年的經營經驗、多角化動機強,且擁有完整的能力與價值活動,其穩健經營之背後所具備的原理原則,足以作為相關廠商進行多角化策略的參考。本研究為工業電腦的多角化策略,採用單一企業的多個產品事業個案進行探討,發掘出研華公司的核心資源與能力、主要價值活動、多角化類型及其績效表現,並與資源和能耐、價值活動,以及多角化策略等相關文獻進行呼應與補充。

    本研究的實務意涵在於提供有意發展多角化策略的企業,一個多角化步驟與佈局順序,在瞄準新事業的目標市場之前,宜先檢視其所需能力與價值活動需要的項目,並朝「能力相關多角化事業」、「價值活動相關多角化事業」,或「高度相關多角化事業」的路徑發展,較有機會獲得良好的財務績效和市場績效。在同一企業之中,能力或價值活動越多相似者,進行多角化的效率越高,因可共用與調度的資源越多,可以達到降低成本或創造差異化的競爭優勢。
