Abstract:	很難想像一部法國文化史的書，會和當今的新媒體研究扯上關係。如果以年代做為分類基礎，本書所論述的世界距今兩百餘年，自然無法把它與新媒體研究構連。但如果我們捨棄這樣的分類思維，把關鍵字放在「社會變遷」這個概念上，兩者就有了一些相似之處。事實上，新媒體關注的一些研究課題如「作者」、「讀者」、「文本」、「故事」、「階級」、「知識分子」等，這本書裡應有盡有。
